Front Shock Tip, Dummy in need of help

I ordered the HBS 2" leveling kit and was pretty excited to put it on, figured it can't be that bad, but I guess I wasn't prepared

I couldn't even get the shocks off.

What trick or method do you use for that top nut on the stud? Mine is rusted (hit it with PB blaster) but of course if you just use a socket the whole shock tower turns.

I tried to hold the nut with a wrench and use a tiny socket on the end of the stud but that didn't work. Don't see a open spot anywhere on shock I can grab with vice grip or flat spot for wrench to hold the shock and keep it from
spinning.

Is it possible to just leave it attached to shock tower and remove them as a unit after taking axle bolt out?

I have a crows foot that I think I can use to get at the nut while I hold the stud still. Seems like my next course of action unless you guys have some info.

I know you guys know how, please help me out! A little embarrassed and frustrated! Thanks a lot

There's a couple of choices. Take the top of the shock tower out along with the shock. Then you can cut the nut off pretty easily.

Or, put a large pair of vice grips around the shock shaft, and use an impact wrench on the nut.

We had to remove the shock & tower together on one of my shocks, don't remember which, Pside I think.

Having the suspension hang helps a ton for making room under there. I had to do mine with the truck on the ground.

Basically work the puzzle, you'll be fine

If you have access to an Impact gun, theat will help. Put a pair of vice grips on the rod and she should come right off.
