frame drilling... again

Ok so I have some rear mudflaps that were supposed to be no drilling required for most applications. surprise surprise. Anyhow I cant return them because I bought them months ago when the truck was new. Waiting for nice weather to install them. Well in my time here I have read about the no frame drilling and even have read the tsb.
In my understanding of it, I can comply with all guidlines. So here are my two questions. If I decide to take it upoun myself to do this, as long as I follow the guidlines I should be ok correct? And if something were to happen im screwed? Even if lets say I had the dealership do it? Ok and secondly, this inner spacer, just drill one side bigger for the spacer and leave the other for the bolt?
I suppose if worse came to worse I could make brackets that bolt around the frame butid have to have my friend help with his welder.
Oh and incase your trying to get the setup, its a bar that bolts to the frame and then the flaps hang form that. in the end i will have them attached with pins that will make removal quick and easy. ( i dont want to rip them off and i can change size flaps at will.
Thanks for input.

I don't know much about drilling to the frame.. But I think you could fab up some brackets/plate that would sandwich the frame and then bolt to the plate.... no welding required. Good luck

I think that if you have access to a welder buddy and some material, you could do like trik396 said and there would be no problem with your warranty. My $0.02

As a matter of fact; my Husky hitch is secured with just the type of device you described. It's a kit offered by Husky described as a "no drill" kit. Works great. It was sort of a pain to install though. If I had to do over, I wouldn't worry about drilling the frame for the conventional mounting. Look at that massive frame. I doubt a couple of holes would cause it to collapse or anything.

I think manufacturers try to cover every imaginable scenario when it comes to owners damaging their vehicles...inadvertently or otherwise. Drilling a few 5/8" holes probably wouldn't harm anything. But blowing a 2" hole in it with a torch...that's a different matter.

I agree. A couple of smaller holes, especially at the back end of the frame should do no harm.
