Fog Light Question

Anyone know the size (OD) of the factory fog lights? I'm debating whether to add an OEM kit or put some really powerful lights (KC, PIAA, etc.) in there. For those who've added the OE lights to your non-OE equipped trucks, do those black plastic pieces come with the kit? You know, the dohicky that interfaces the bumper to the light... I've seen the kits advertised with switch, harness, lights, but no mention of that asthetic piece to tie it all together. Thanks!

All of the factory kits come with the "aesthetic piece ", no problem.

Not sure of the diameter of the lamps.

I have a smashed out stock one sitting on my computer desk (see post on fragile fog lights).

The lens is (was) roughly 5 3/8 by 4 3/4 and not exactly oval, kind of flat on one edge.

Mounting bracket appears to be integrated into the design, and I'm guessing a person would have to plan on fabricating a mount to put something in those spots that isn't OE Hella or one of the knock-offs designed for this application.

Though mine came factory with the lights, I understand the kit also comes with a plastic bezel that replaces the one with louvers that fills the hole on trucks without fog lights.

I had asked the dealer how much the kit was. He didn't know off the top of his head, but he said the labor to install them was $250.00 because the bump has to be removed. Sounded fishy to me.

DodgeParts.com - about $150.

Kind of an oval shape and comes with the bezels and a wiring harness and switch. One of the easiest and best mods done so far.

Cheapest I've seen is $64 for one - My right one has had the lens smashed for about two months now - still works though. Guess when it quits working, I'll worry about replacing it.
Oh yeah, I don't remember the web site - have seen a lot of kits on ebay a lot cheaper than $250. A Dodge dealer in Madisonville, TX usually runs a kit on ebay.

Has anybody seen the kit on DodgeParts.com? I was wondering about the 'switch'. Isnt the factory foglight switch a part of the headlight switch? What does the kit switch look like?

kit switch kit switch kit switch kit switch... that sounds funny.

The switch is a round rocker type mounted in a square bezel. It has an orange indicator light to tell when the lights are on. It is black and looks to be factory when mounted in the black dash.
I have heard of someone having the dealer wire it just like it came from the factory.

This was the route I went ($62.40), recommended by someone who replied to my "fragile fog light" thread...

http://www.headlightswholesale.com/c...CKUP&x=26&y=41

Once installed, I can't tell it from the stock light, either by looking at the part, or from the light quality and pattern. A lot better than the $114 that the dealer wanted for a replacement (each). They also shipped promptly.

P.S. I now also have stoneguards... and yes, the factory installed fog lights turn on by pulling the headlight ****.
