flat bed

I'm looking at a '04 chasy cab because the price is right. What I'd like to do is put a flat bed on it. I would just like to know if anyone has done this and how much it would cost, I'd be putting the bed on myself. If the cost for the bed is worth the savings in the truck. I'm not looking for anything fancy, just a 8ft flat bed black painted steel and some removable side boards. Thanks in advance for the help.

Adam

I am doing my 06 right now. It depends on what you want in a bed. The cheapest you could get a plain steel bed would range anywhere from $13 -$17 hundered. I am putting a dump under mine with a nicer bed going to run around $4500.

Adam, welcome aboard. As far as flatbed info goes, I tried a search in the Towing and Hauling section using the words "flatbed aluminum steel" in it and a few threads popped up.

Here are a couple that you might take a look at for more info:

I went and looked at my bed yesterday before they painted it. I really like it alot. The dump is a nice neat package and the bed is built really well. I suppose to get my truck back Friday. They are putting black tool boxes on each lower frontside. While I was at it I ordered me a westin bull bar to make it look even better.
