i dont post very much, just take in the wealth of knowledge. i have to speak when it comes to farm bureau insurance. i had farm bureau insurance since i moved to tennessee about 6 yrs ago. never had 1 claim on my home owners, vehicle, nor on my personal property insurance. well that day finally cam when we had a dishwasher overflow when we were gone and ruined are $12,000 hardwood floor we just installed about 2 months before. water went into the kitchen through the living room into the master bedroom and seeped down into the basement. we immediatley notified our insurance company and they sent somone out. he came in and looked around and took some measurements and left...about a week later we got a letter saying they will settle the claim for $283.17....i about freaked.....i contacted them and they said that the wrarping that the hardwood floor was doing was not from water damage and i would have to prove that it was...we went back and forth for about a month...finally i called the manufacturer of the flooring and they sent a rep. the rep looked at the floor and had a device that measures moisture and it went crazy when he went over the flooring(meaning there was water trapped in the floor). he made a report and sent it along with a letter to farm bureau(one thing is farm bureau wanted the manufacturer to pay for the flooring saying it was a defect in manufacturing) the manufacturer defended themselves along with me(suprised) and even had their attorney contact the insurace company along w/the state commisioners office. about 6 moths later they finally settled.....part 2--- (what a bad year)

came home from visiting my parents and my truck was stolen from my house and set fire 4 counties away......they treated me like a criminal, refused to pay claim at first, denied coverage on almost everything i had in the truck, and after the claim was settled at about $7,500 below book(lucky i had g.a.p. insurance) and out about $10,000 in welders and equipment they sent me a letter saying they were cancelling me......i even had my health ins. through them also........so 6 yrs of paying..

2 vehicles at full coverage-$260.00/moth
home owners-$110.00/monthly
property ins.-$140.00/monthly
health insurance(family)-$525.00/monthly

so basically in 6 yrs i had paid them $74,520.00 in premiums and they paid out about $26,000 in 6 yrs.
the commisioners office even investigated farm bureau about them cancelling policies from people who had made a claim and they were 100's of complaints and them being rated at #1 on the list(world wide) for poor custome satifaction and the highest rate for policy cancellations due to claims....

like i said....1 claim in 6yrs and drooped from them!!!!

wheni got the letter stateing they wanted to settle my claim for about $250.00 on a floor that cost me $12,000 2 months ago i wanted to go jerk the adjuster out of his chair and break his face...lol! it made me sick that they wanted to screw me like that.....i felt like nothing i owned was protected with insurance..even though i was paying an arm and a leg a month.i could see if i had a history of claims...but that was my first claim in the 6 yrs that i had them........i was going to cancell my policy after everything was settled anyway, but it ****** me off more that they got to do it first!

Farm Bureau is a bunch of snakes, they are great unless you actually want them to do something other than take your money from you. They tried to double my rates after the wife whacked the door on a Honda that wasn't worth $500. Both over 25, both had life insurance policies, homeowners, everything with them. Went to State Farm and the price was literally HALF what Farm Bureau was trying to get.

You guys that only pay $40.00 per year are getting a deal. I just renewed my membership and it costs me $61.00 per year. I am still way ahead though. I have saved $1000.00 on the two Dodges I have purchased plus the 10% discount on all of my Nationwide insurance policies. I have been a member for ten years. It started out at $30.00 per year dues.

I've had similar experience with the car side. We got FB insurance for our house because they were much more forgiving about the fact it was old and had scary things in it like fireplaces. But when we got a quote for car insurance we found that both my wife and I were considered 'high risk' because we had 1 speeding ticket each over the last 5 years (both less than 10 MPH over the limit). My impression was they are only interested in insuring those farmers who block traffic driving 35 in a 55 in their old pick-ups.

I think that there are people out there that have had bad experiences with every insurance company. I am sorry that you have had problems with Tennessee Farm Bureau. In Texas, the opposite is generally true. After Hurricane Rita, Farm Bureau got in, got the claims worked and got checks in peoples' hands before the other companies even arrived on the scene.

Every Farm Bureau State is an independent organization, and as such, manages their affairs differently. Like I said before, buying insurance is not required to be a member. People have had different experiences in different states. When someone uses the term "Farm Bureau" they are painting with an extremely broad brush.

Ok I think all you are looking for is how to be qualified right? If thats the case you need to have been a member for 45 days and can show proof of it(certificate from insurance) then all you need after that is to have you agent fax in a letter or proof to the dealership where you are purchasing the dodge from.It not too hard. It only like a 500 dollar rebate. Also there is consumer loyalty rebate also. At least there was when I left the dealership. I think that one is good for 1000 credit! Just make sure you are asking for "all" of the other rebates besides the consumer cash and the dealership incentives! Also if you finance through chrysler thats another 1000 credit! Dont let the dealerships screw you over guys!

Actually its 30 days. You are basically correct, except in Texas and a few other states where they will take you membership number and contact Dodge program headquarters for verification. The rebate will work with other rebate programs, but not with other "certificate" programs (college grad, active duty military)

Yes. Make sure the effective date on your membership card says November 11. Otherwise you should be good to go.

Try this link (I know it is Texas, but AFAIK, the program rules are the same): Texas Farm Bureau Dodge Program

O.K. Thanks. If I replace the word Texas with Colorado on that link then I should be good to go as of the 11th. of Dec. 2005. Also I called DC's 800# and was told it was 30 days and that I needed a rebate coupon from farm bureau to give the dealer at time of purchase. Is that correct?
