factory navigation question

i just picked up an 07 and noticed half of the navigation features dont work when you are moving faster than a crawling speed..... its clearly some sort of safety feature or something, anyone know how to get around this? im sure there is a way but it seems a little worrisome cause it doesnt work off of the park sensor or e brake, so maybe gps... if i knew it was gonna be this much of a procedure i would of gotten it without nav and put my own in for a half the price.....

Yes unfortunatley it is a safety feature....they don't want you taking your eyes off the road and possibly causing an accident...having said that there are companies out there that you can send your factory nav unit to and modify it to work while moving as well as play dvd movies.

Such as?

Any experience or feedback with any of them would be appreciated as well.

You can do it for free if you are computer savvy. It's too complicated for me...

Thanks for that links! Unfortunately, playing a DVD movie seems to be out of the question for the NAV system though.

Changing things on the fly sure is nice though ;-)

There was nothing about playing DVD's. I'll definitely be converting my NAV now

It will allow you to hook up a dvd player and/or a backup cam. That not an optoin now. For what this will cost, a pop out stereo with dvd player will be close.

I agree with that although it would be cool to make this one do everything. I may have done it if the head unit would actually play the DVDs. I don't like having to put the external player under the seat. Too hard to reach while driving...
