Excesive wind noise from drivers side dore.
I bought a used 06 Mega cab this fall and it has a lot of wind noise coming from the drivers side dore when driving in a cross wind. It is realy windy today(40+mph). On the way home from work today the wind was coming from the passenger side and sucking my drivers side dore away from the seal and the wind noise was VERY loud. I could wach the dore wigle back and forth and flutter so to speak away from the seal. If I took my hand and squeezed the top of the dore back tight against the seal it was nice and quiet. It seems to me that the dore is not shutting properly or something. Is ther any adjustments that I can do to tighten it up or is this a comon problem with these newer trucks? My 04 had more wind noise in general but not like this.
I drove it this afternoon the oposite direction and the passenger side dore is just as bad. I am goan have to figure out if the dore latch can be adjusted in a little to tighten it up some.

My Mega does the EXACT same thing. Not too bad on a calm day, but when the wind blows, its BAD. I believe I read on here somewhere that you should take it to a reputable body shop and have the adjust the door. I also read to lower the window and put your feet on the armrest and grab the top of the door and push out with your feet while pulling in on the top of door. I don't think Im gonna be trying this, but thats what I read. I think I'll just try and find a body shop that can adjust it for me. Hope this help some!
It happens when wind catches the door. It happened on my 05 Chevy. My brother used to be a trim man for Chevy so he helped me out with it. You can put the lower half of the door against your knees, and then pull the top half to you. this will pull the top of the door to you, much like you are doing wwhen you squeeze it will youre driving. that didnt work for mine, the hinge was bent. So we had to pull the door and use a BFH on the hinge to get it right. Good luck.
Had same problem on my 2005. Read about all the fixes. Here's what I did...
I got some foam tape, about 1.5" wide and maybe 1/8" thick with a very sticky backside. Don't know the name brand, sorry. Cleaned the inside of the door with some alcohol wipes from the mirror up and back all the way. Slowly molded the foam from the very top edge of the door from mirror up and back. Test drove. Better but not great. Added another layer of tape on top of first. Same way, take your time because the sticky stuff is strong... Molded around the curves on the door, taking my time. Test drove. Perfect. No noise.
This was over a month ago and still perfect. Think it'll last a long time because it shows no signs of wear. The foam is very similar to the feel of the weatherstrip on our trucks. Cost around $3 total and maybe ten minutes time.

Some earlier trucks had defective gaskets. They would tear (look above the mirror at the gasket on truck body with the door open). I had the dealer install new designed gaskets under warranty. Problem solved. Mines a 2004.5.
