I ordered a new 04 back on September 26th and was given an approximate delivery date of November 25th by the dealer. I called the other day to check and was told the truck hasn't even been started yet! They told me they had a shortage of engines (I ordered the HO this time). Any one else heard of this? I was really looking forward to the new truck at the end of the month and now I have to wait longer....

 

Hang in there. It will be worth the wait. My 01.5 took six months and the 03 took three months from the time the order was placed to reach the dealer, so I know what it feels like to have to wait. I wonder if the EGR engine is what the hold up is? I tried to build one on the Dodge website but was unable to with the CTD.

 

I don't know man. I ordered on Oct. 13, and it went in D1 status on 10/15.
Build complete on 10/25...but it is taking them like a month or so to ship.
But anyhow, I'm not sure about that shortage of engine excuse.
I ordered 3500 Quad SRW, SWB 4x4 6 speed. I'm in MD.

 

It sure sounds fishy to me. I ordered one day before you, 9/25. On employee price. My truck went thru the gate at Saltillo to the transport company on 10/21. It sat in Mexico until 11/7! That date it was loaded onto a freighter bound for Tampa. The 13th it's supposed to arrive there. Sceduled delivery to Key West, 11/20. Longer to get the thing from Mexco to the dealer (30 days) than order to left plant time 27 days). Frankly, I don't believe it's an engine shortage. Others who ordered after you aren't being told that!
