engine hours ... got something else too

I was following the procedure outlined in the FAQ regarding the engine hours display. The FAQ is missing one part though. You turn the key to on, then push the odo reset for 6 seconds.

Here's what I did. I held the reset button for 6 seconds, then turned the key to on. The truck did a series of tests with the dash lights and analog gauges. It looks interesting. Does anybody know what test I ran?

Cheers,
marcus

Instument Guage Cluster Test. It will actuate all the guages, then show any codes in the odo. window. ( codes will be for Cluster only in this mode )

Especially while you're driving and the cluster does that test spontaneously and on its own accord.

^^^ That should NOT happen! You might have an FCM problem or a connection problem!

check your all of the battery terminals and connections.
even if they look clean, get a post/terminal cleaner and clean them good.

Thanks for the suggestions, but this happened at about 5K and I'm at 46K now without any hiccups or recurrence. It certainly looked like a self test, but scared the crap out of me at the time at 70 mph!
