Early build - what to watch for?

Looking at a truck with a build date of 10/02. Still on the dealer's lot. It's Patriot Blue, but the paint looks good. A little orange peelish, but good coverage. I know about the diff fluid levels and the alternator bracket. There's a reflash sticker under the hood for the PCM. What else do I need to look for in an early build truck? Thanks.

My transmission and transfer case were both at least a pint low. November build date.

Also check the bolts on the fan clutch. Some of the early models was sent out of the factory not properly torqued to spec.

MikeyB

Gotta love owning a Dodge Cummins! If this question was posted to the Ford 6.0 guys at the dieselstop.com site there would be a totally different story!

All I have is a cracked alt. bracket and my power pedals seemed to leak some fluid onto my floormats. Boohoo.

These trucks are great!
