03 Reserve warning!!!
03 Reserve warning!!!
My 01 had a low fuel warning light that came on with about 8or9 gal reserve left. <br><br>On my 03, when should I excpect the warning light to activate and how much fuel is left?????????<br>I am at 450mi on the odometer, with 1/3 capacity left in the fuel gauge and 135 left on the computer. This is still my first tank of fuel.<br><br>any Ideas?
Re:03 Reserve warning!!!
Hmmm you must have gotten that special bottomless tank...
<br>Today I was driving and didn't realize I was near empty. I had 11 miles for DTE forever, I drove way more than 11 miles. Then when I stopped and got back in I had zero DTE until I got to the pump, another 6 miles. Squeezed, and I mean squeezed, in 32.2 gallons when I was at 464* miles for that tankful. I still haven't figured out what's up with that overhead computer. I get 14.4 to 14.6 MPG consistently*, I must always drive uphill... [undecided]<br> I recall a few posts where folks say they have 3-4 gallons when the gauge is on E, and to completely fill the tank takes time when you get near the top. I can squeeze in a few more gallons if I'm patient...<br>*Adjusted for 315 tires

Re:03 Reserve warning!!!
This is why I am concerned.<br>I have no Idea, if or what, is the correct reading.<br>Are you also saying there is NO reserve warning lamp on the 03 trucks?
Re:03 Reserve warning!!!
My fuel light comes on religiously at an 1/8th of a tank left. I'm not sure how many gallons that equates to. I hit 538.27 (correct for my 315s) on the odometer and put 29.52 gallons in the truck. The DTE on the overhead was a zero for quite a while, so I really don't pay it much mind. I know that my fuel needle hadn't hit the peg past the 'E' so I'd say I could have gone a bit farther.
Re:03 Reserve warning!!!
With my 2WD I can get just over 600 miles on a tank. Still haven't got the low fuel light to come on and had 570 miles when I filledit up with just over 30 Gal.
I'm getting right at 20 MPG.
I'm getting right at 20 MPG.

This still is confusing.....<br><br>LinearX says "My fuel light comes on religiously at an 1/8th of a tank left."<br>Then Butchera says "Still haven't got the low fuel light to come on and had 570 miles when I filledit up with just over 30 Gal"<br><br>anyone else????
Re:03 Reserve warning!!!
While I've not been in another '03 when the fuel is getting low I can only speak for mine. It may be that every truck is different, but who knows? I think it's kind of extreme that mine comes on at 1/8th of a tank, but at least I know that I'll need to put fuel in it eventually.

It will actually hit the peg an run for awhile on that. I was on a long open road at about 3 am and not wanting to fill up at one of those small hardly used fuel stops then all of a sudden there were no stops.

My last fill, 510 miles driven, no low fuel light, needle at ~1/8th, 25 gallons to fill. (I've only got about 800 miles on this puppy so this was also my first fill. ;D )<br><br>100 Proof
Re:03 Reserve warning!!!
I squeeze another 6 gals ( filled to the neck slowly but worth it) after it clicks off...go about 150 miles or so before coming off the full mark...light comes on at 1/8 with 60 miles on the DTE....foam is your gremlin here!...most i have put in my truck is 38.3 gallons...DC might be conservitive in stating gallonage in the tank to reduce running out of fuel situations....just my two cents<br>Cameron
