Re:03 Reserve warning!!!

I recall seeing quite a bit of info about the fuel tank/gauge/reserve fuel/overhead computer etc. in the manual. I think it tells you how much fuel is left when the gauges say empty(don't remember the specifics though) - so you might give the book a peruzing.

It also says that there is a reserve beyond this point that is approximately 10% of the tank capacity. Just last night I ran for about 5 miles with DTE reading 0 and the needle on E. I squeezed in 30.667 gallons before growing impatient. It's supposed to be a 34 gallon tank....so if you fill it up as soon as it hits E you should only be able to put about 30 gallons in it....meaning you still have 3-4 gallons in reserve.
thanks everyone - it looks like most of the warning lights activate at 1/8 of tank (9-10gal) and some with 3gals.
At least there IS a warning.....
The warning is to keep an eye on your needle. When it gets low, fill it up. With that said though, my light also comes on when the needles shows about 1/8 tank left. Like I said above though, after the needle hits the E you should still have about 3.5 gallons left before you have problems.

Re:03 Reserve warning!!!

When filling up the tank the diesel fuel will foam a lot and click the fuel station thing. Kinda like trying to fill a beer off the tap. Im told this is backwards but i find that the Foaming isnt as bad if I use a Semi Truck pump with the bigger Nozzle.

Re:03 Reserve warning!!!

also when filling it seems to foam less if you don't use the highest gpm setting on the auto pumping mechanism. go with the slowest one.

Re:03 Reserve warning!!!

On mine the chime/light comes on when its got 1/8 tank left.I usually get 640+ before I have to fill up. ???But the tank before this one I was below the 1/8 mark and no light/chime
Last time I still had some over 1/8 so I did not get to ck to see if the low fuel warning is working or not.

Heh,

Just went 565 miles on 27.1 gallon of fuel...roughly 20.848 mpg. And I filled the tank so I could see the fuel in the filler pipe as I typically do.

That being said. The DTE was 31 miles when I filled up and seemingly there is about8 gallon of fuel left in the tank.

No low fuel light or warning for me it seems.
