"E" and "D" rating Questions

What is the difference between a "D" rated tire @ 3195lbs and a "E" rated tire @ 3195. All I could find was tire pressure differences.

depends on your truck and how you tow...”E” 10 plys are obviously the "safer" choice but I ran 8 ply’s on my old truck without any issues…

Please fill out your signature so we know what you’re driving when you ask questions....

The key word here is rated. Notice how they no longer say 10 ply constructed. Just because a tire says 8 or 10 ply rated it does not mean it actually has 8 or 10 plies. It is just rated to carry the weight of a former 8 or 10 ply constructed tire. You need to be more concerned with the maximum carrying capacity more so than just a 10 ply rating. A larger 8 ply tire can have a higher carrying capacity than a smaller 10 ply tire.
