If it's big enough, get a 16' door. <br><br>My garage is 20' 4&quot; X 24' -- when I moved in, it had a 9' door on it. Now it has a 16'..... fits the dually and durango quite nicely! ;D<br><br>Tony

 

rkelso,<br><br>I just re-read your question and Tony's reply. If you are building new (you didn't tell us) and you have the option of going a double garage, go for the 18' double door. I hate a 16' door just putting my normal cars in. People that don't know are forever banging into my other car with their door if I drive on in the garage before letting them out. Not much room between the cars with 16'. My druthers are two 9' wide doors - - this gives you plenty of room to get in and out and an extra foot or so between the cars.

 

I've built a lot of shops/garages for people. The best setup i think is two ten foot doors. Typical is 3' on the sides and 3' or more in between them, gives room to open car doors.<br> If you go with a single 16' or so and it breaks, you can't get any of the vehicles out. It's more expansive to go with double doors, but in my estimation it's worth it. If your building a garage i would also suggest useing a manufactured header, one made of 2xs glued one on top of the other. No sag, plenty of surface to mount the track and springs closer ect. to<br>by the time you build your own header it's just as cheap to buy one premade.

 

Well I'm building a pole building, but the way I've got to come in I am limited to 10' since I need another door on the same side to pull in my trailer. I'm going a little wide on the trailer side door because the way I have to back it in the trailer will rock from side to side. Better too wide than not. Looking at a Morton Building - factory just on the other side of town.<br>30x40 with both overhead doors on the the 30' end. With the Dually at 96.6&quot;, the 10' should be fine. Thanks for the help.

 

I have 10 x 10's on my Garage and I want to go at least 12 wide. The dually is 8' wide, so only 12&quot; on each side of the rear fenders and if you have towing mirrors, better not forget to push them in. It's a tight squeeze.

 

Do the towing mirrors stick out further than the wheel wells? I thought they were about the same.
