Drove Home New Dodge today

Just traded in my 03 for an 06. I went ahead and orderd a 2500 4x4 Laramie w/ manual transmission. Those trucks sit a lot higher than the 03 2x4's; anyways one question for those that own 04's & 05's... Is reverse on the far left or far right in the shifting pattern? My 06 is down and far left and my 03 was up and far right. To me that is a huge difference that I will have to adapt to. Other than that I love it, the front end is growing on me and those lights are like spotlights, but the interior needs a little TLC. The cup holders cannot hold the big gulps but I do like the power sliding rear window. I'll post pics as soon as I can get some sunlight.

That's because they have different trannies. The up and to the right is the nv5600. The down and to the left is the new G56.

Congrats. Nice truck. I test drove an 06 with the Mercedes G56 and I LIKE IT ALOT. It shifts smoother and its easier to find the gears.

I would prefer left down, to my dismay, i have hit reverse trying to shift to 5th on the nv5600. but i imagine you can hit reverse trying to hit 2nd on the getrag. But i still love my nv5600, real heavy duty workhorse.
Have a good one!

Yes you have to be careful about getting second or reverse. I've got one and the low gear (up and left) is too low to start out in, second works well. It's one click over and down for 2nd and two over and down for reverse so it is possible to get mixed up and I have backed up slightly at stoplights a couple times. Never went far though and you eventually get used to it. Just be careful when you first start driving it.

I would still like to see the day that they put a tranny in that you can shift like a real truck, only need clutch when starting from a stop, gets soooooo boring and tiring on the left leg,,,,, meh this ones an auto , last three were sticks . If they ever do make a nice clutchless tranny I may switch.

Sorry it took so long to get some pics posted. It has been hectic the past few days. I love the way this new dodge drives... It definitely turns heads and I'm adjusting to the new transmission finally. I've already scheduled to get a rhino liner put in next week and will also have some wheel to wheel nerf bars installed. Gas prices need to drop more so I can go play with my new toy w/o having to cringe when I fill her up.

I wouldn't put gas in that machine. Do they still call that shade Patriot Blue? Nice truck, BTW.

Nice truck. Bumper looks different then my 05 model. I know the top is slightly different but mine has all chrome along the bottom where the fog lights are. Your's looks like they are color matched to the truck? Nice rig.
