Does anyone know what this is??

I was looking for the thing that gives the outside temperature inside the truck (overhead) and I found this black wire / plug. It was just laying next to the cooler and it looks like at one time it was mounted somewhere, so I just secured where I thought it might go.

Anyone know what it is? Kind of hoping that it is for the outside temperature because my truck has been saying that it was 105 outside when really it was only about 85. I think it was sitting next to something getting warm.

Thanks,

Jason

That should be the temp sensor. Looks like you found your issue.

Mounts on the top screw for headlight. Someone must have changes your headlight bulb recently and forgot to attach it when reinstalling screws.

So are you saying it's not the temp sensor or it is the temp sensor and it should be mounted on the top screw for headlight?

It is the temp sensor and it mounts on the top screw of the headlight.
