Dodge Ram finished third
What do you guys think of our beloved CTD finishing last behind Cheby and Ferd? A recent article in Motor Trend, Ram 2500 finished third due to the following (in a nut shell) :
-- CTD is louder than Duramax and PowerStroke
-- very rough ride
-- Weak transmission (4 speed only)
However the editors claimed that the mighty CTD has:
-- the most torque
-- best looking truck
-- best turning radius
Comments please.

Motor Trend likes them thar Yuppie trucks . If Honda made a diesel HD truck you can bet it would always come out on top. Now if BMW had bought Chrysler and the Ram was a Bimmer I bet it would win
Why didn't they have a six-speed tug-of-war with a GMC or Chebby and it's high-tech dual mass piece of crap flywheel ? Three quarter ton and one ton trucks with independent front suspensions are sissy trucks in my eyes. Obviously D/C didn't spend enough advertising dollars with Motor Blend. There's a seat for every *** and my *** resides in a Dodge RAM 2500 Quad Cab with CTD. That's 'bout all I got to say 'bout that.

I doubt that any of the editors actually own a CTD. I do and I can objectively tell you that this is one great truck. On the other hand, my company owns 35 Power Strokes; and I don't own one. Nuff said.

NO WAY is the CTD louder than the FERD!!! My mom's boyfriend has an '04 FERD F-250, and that thing clatter's like an old dodge!!!! He commented the other day "Wow, at first I thought your truck was a gasser".!!!! And at highway speed, the thing is quieter than my wife's trailblazer. Those guys must be on some serious drugs!!!
I never cease to be amazed that anyone even cares about the "comparisons" done by the "advertisment collections" that pass for enthusiast magazines. I for one cannot distinguish between ad space and articles in these publications. I drive what I drive because I am perfectly capable of comparing different vehicles in light of my specific needs. Should I care what said in a magazine? I think not. I don't care if the other guy's diesels have more torque, more horesepower, are quieter, go faster, attract chicks, cure baldness or make you loose weight, I bought what I wanted. I hope that you all did the same.

Apparently we can't have real work trucks anymore?
We have to have a truck as computer controlled as possible with a cadillac ride, but still want to call it a TRUCK
I'm with pappyman, I have fun bouncing around in the cab, because I know I am in a truck, not a car.
One other thing, just because the 48RE is a 4 speed does that mean its weaker than Ford's 5 speed auto? You don't need the extra gear if you design the motor and tranny together to get it into its torque peak/curve. I tell ya what, my stock 47RH is about 40% of what my Goerend Brothers is, and Dad's 48RE is probably 90% as good, but I will admit I am biased towards my truck
One of these days we are going to race
