dodge factory run-around (att. luke)
dodge factory run-around (att. luke)
Here is the e-mail conversation I had with a D/C rep today. I've re-arranged it to read from top to bottom - but haven't changed anything.

ORIGINAL MESSAGE TO D/C:

I've ordered a truck 11 weeks ago. After numerous phone calls to dodge (1-800-992-1997) the truck has not even begun the building stage. The nice people on your assistance line say there are NO hang-ups on any of the options selected for the truck, and to ask the dealer why it is not getting built. I've e-mailed and left voice mail for the dealer with no response. I'm looking for some help to get my truck built. It appears the factory can't be to backed up based on the continuing rise in incetives. And to top it off I personally know 13 people that ordered after me that allready have their trucks. Some were recieved in 4 weeks from their order date. Please advise me on who to contact that can assist. Thankyou Rob

RESPONSE FROM D/C:
Dear Rob:

Thank you for your e-mail regarding the 2003 Dodge Ram you have ordered from your Dealer.

I am sorry to learn of your dissatisfaction with the time which has elapsed since your order was placed. The popularity and excitement for this vehicle has created a situation where demand exceeds the amount of Rams that can be built.

At this time, our records indicate that your order is currently in the scheduling process. It appears that everything is being done to ensure that your vehicle gets built as quickly as possible.

We would also like to encourage you to stay in contact with your salesman for the latest scheduling information. Your dealer is the best source for all information concerning your order.

Thank you for your continued patience while waiting for delivery of your new Dodge Ram.

MY RESPONSE BACK TO THEM:
Andrew, Thank you for the reply. Can you explain why others are recieving their trucks and I'm not? Is the dealer I ordered from on credit hold with Dodge? Have they ordered it as a stock type order instead of a custom order? If the factory is backed up and it just takes that long I wouldn't be concerned. But with everyone else getting their trucks anywhere from 4-8 weeks, and mine hasn't hit the production line after 11 - I'm thinking something is wrong ???

AND D/C FINAL RESPONSE
Dear Rob:

Thank you for your prompt response.

There are a multitude of variables that determine when a vehicle is built. Examples of these are options, color, and geographic region. Because our records show the order and do not have any errors or alerts posted to this individual vehicle, it would be safe to assume that everything is going as planned. I don't see a need to make any changes to the order.

I will continue tracking your order over the next few days and notify you of any updates.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.

-------------

Quite the politicion eh ? Never actually answered one question, but it sure sounded good.

Re:dodge factory run-around (att. luke)
Just got a call from the dealer, he finally got in touch with someone at the factory. They are supposed to actually go out and find the truck and see what the hold up is. Dealer says he will call me tomorrow and give me the scoop.

What a crock of sh...
Noone should have to wait 11 weeks for their truck to arrive. To be 11 weeks in with no definite arrival date would be incredibly frustrating. If I were in your position- I'd be ballistic!!!

Re:dodge factory run-around (att. luke)
cancel the order and find a new dealer otherwise go back to ur dealer and u want it for belore there invoice. Dont let then kid u either they will still make money, dont forget about dealer hold backs. My dealer has a no hagle price policy what ever invoice is is the price to the consumer no hageling. Take all the fun out of it.

Dan
Re:dodge factory run-around (att. luke)
Definately getting frustrating - especially when my '97 CTD is allready gone - as in...-I'm sans truck- and have been since October :'(

Pretty much putting me in a bad mood on a daily basis.

But, I don't really think it is the dealer - From what I can tell he put the order in right away. Any company that builds that much product is going to have a few that slip through the cracks I suppose - I think I'm just the unlucky one that slipped.

I will certainly try to squeeze something out of the dealer for the delay. My deal with him going in was $100 over invoice.
Re:dodge factory run-around (att. luke)
This makes no sense to me sir. I have been getting almost all orders built in 3-5 weeks, even some of my stock orders. I don't know if your interested but I have a truck that is equiped almost just like the one who have ordered except it is garnet red over silver instead of patriot blue over silver. I would be willint to sell to you at invoice minus the rebates if you are interested. If you want to see the exact equipment of the truck, go to www.maczuk.net and click on Dodge vehicles and search under Ram 3500. Then you'll see all the 3500's I have, it is in there somewhere. There is an option that you can click on below the picture, to show you the window sticker with all the options. Maybe this'll help you out? ??? :
Re:dodge factory run-around (att. luke)
misterKTM,
You think you are getting the run arround. When I ordered my 01.5 Ram 2500 it took six months to arrive. First the six speed was on restriction, then the engine, then the leather interior. When I found out about the leather I had it upgraded to the SLT Plus and they built it right away. It was at the dealer three weeks after I upgraded to the SLT Plus. My 03 took three months from the time I ordered for it to arrive at the dealer. I ordered in October and now trucks are arriving much quicker than mine did. Hopefully yours won't be much longer. Like it has been said many times, it will be worth the wait.
