Do anybody's power windows work after the key is off?
Do anybody's power windows work after the key is off?
I have an 11-05 3500 and when you shut the engine off or take the key out, the windown no longer work. This may seem normal, but I just drove a 10-05 3500 and you can shut it off and take the key out and the windows still work until the first time you open the door. I only ask because the Ford I had would still work after the key was off, I just thought it was weird that one Dodge does and one doesn't...I didn't know if there was some trick with key cycles or something to activate that function. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Aaron

it is called retained accessory power. i believe there is a fuse in the PD box under the hood that you can move over a 1/2 positition to get RAP (retained accessory power) on the dodge.
yeah on my newer 3500, you can set the power delay time on the overhead computer. i think it was from 0 minutes to 10 minutes that you can set the accessory power to stay on from the time the ignition is shutoff. it will then either shut off from the timer or as you stated, when a door is opened. i'd look in yourmaual if you have it or wait for someone with the same year truck to chime to let you know how to do it.
