Ron,
Beachfront or on an inland waterway? Many beach-front homes have their garages under them I imagine because code requires them to withstand 10-12' floodsurge during hurricanes. I would recommend taking a tape measure and measure the size of the garage and the door also. The width of the door opening and the height... be sure to measure from the bottom of the door while it's up (open) so you're sure that the door overhang and the door closer all clear your truck.

Thats MR Hoss to you buddy!
Mine fits. Barely. Height is no problem. Width and length are. Both my truck and my wife's Trailblazer will fit....but she has to pull in forward all the one to one side and I have to back in all the way to the other side so that the driver's side doors open towards the middle. Anyone else has to get out before going in the garage. I have about 3" clearance between the front bumper and the garage door if I back all the way up to the wall.

Where I'm from, a 20ft deep garage is "standard". I have a 3 car (20d x 30w), but it's worthless to me. My '99 1500 QC Shortbed was 19'6" long so it would fit, barely, but the water heater happens to be right in the way so I had to come in at an angle if I wanted to park in there. Too much hassle, so it stayed outside. Same for my 04.5 2500 QC SB... only I ran into an issue with height too. Stock, it only cleared the top by about an inch or two, but after I put on the 315's it wouldn't fit. I just traded for a QC longbed over the weekend, so obviously it's no way Jose'. I think I'd need a minimum of 24' deep, 8' tall door garage to park the new one. I'll definitely be doing something different when I build my next house... shooting for 30' deep, 10' ceilings with minimum 8' tall doors.

I'm heading back down to NC tonight to continue my hunt for that new home. THIS TIME I'm taking the Dodge, no need for tape measure.
That was a good point about checking the rails on the overhead garage door openers, never would have thought to check.
The reason I really would like to have the truck fit in the garage is because I ALWAYS had to work outside on my vehicles. Never had a warm dry place to work, always got wet and in the winter having snow pushed down around your neck and waist isn't fun at 56 years old.
Thanks guys...

my 2500 was too tall for the door.
my 3500 is too tall also, and will be more so with the 19.5's.
I have a 24x30 extra deep, but only a "wide single" garage door. Builder ran out of money when building the garage, so he used a relative's old commercial door. When I have some extra cash (whenever THAT will be! ) I plan to put in a taller 16' door so I can get the truck inside for servicing. I also want to pave the pad in front of the garage, to make messy jobs easier to do/cleanup.

In my previous garage I had to pull the front wheels up on a 4" step to get it in. I built my present garage with plenty of room.
I did get lucky one morning when I backed out and heard a whooshing sound as I cleared the door. The door had failed to open all the way and the rubber seal just brushed the roof. I now don't assume the door is open just because I pushed the button.

Well, let me tell you, mine fits, but mirrors folded and gingerly pulling it in. I was used to my 1500 4X4 but when I came home with the 2500 4X4, it was sure weird thinking I was going to hit the top of the door. My neighbors get a kick of it when I garage the beast. But, I don't have hail damage like some people, arr, arr, arr and that is all I got say about THAT!
