Do 03's fit in std garage?

I just got back from a trip (used wifie's Subaru) to the New Brunswick county area of N.C., we are looking for a new home in that area, and after looking at few homes it just dawned on me that maybe my 03 won't fit in a standard size garage?

My present home doesn't have a garage.

I never thought to measure any of them, nor did I take the measurements of the truck with me.

I'm thinking that I might have to start doing that.

I will fit. Check out my gallery and look at the garage that is behind my truck.

If the standard garage is 21-22' the answer is yes for a SWB QC.

You better measure. My truck will not fit in my parents or brothers garage, and just makes it into my garage. I measured my garage opening before deciding to get the 04.

I can't imagine the horror of driving home with a new truck (that my wife didn't think we needed) and having to tell my wife, "Sorry honey, but the new truck will have to sit outside all the time because it can't fit inside our garage."

Well, it looks like I'm bringing a tape measure the next trip

I guess it's the length that's the problem....

TDIwyse is right. There isn't really a standard garage size. Could be anywhere from 19' on up. You will just have to measure. Depends probably on how big a house you bought.

My little 1700 sq ft house only has a 19' so I'm sol

I keep all my vehicles in the garage and make a point to test them before buying them. I had a 1992 CTD 4X4 extended cab that was a tight fit but could get it in. My 2004 quad cab short bed (with wide mirrors) is even a tighter fit. I fold the drivers side mirror back before pulling into the garage (9 ft wide doors). I have to discharge any passengers before pulling in tho since there is no room to open the doors on that side. I hang a tennis ball from the ceiling which just touches the windshield when I pull in. I have just enough room to squeeze between the rear bumper & the garage door when it is closed. The garage door clears my tonneau cover when it is in the raised position.

This is a HUGE issue with me. The 2005 2500 4x4 I want is 227.7" long and about 78.5" tall, according to Dodge. I built a new home that advertised a 20' garage. Great, I think to myself, 240" long with a 228" long QC SB pickup will work great. Well, from wall to door is only 231.5" and from floor to top of garage door opening is only about 80". Suddenly I'm down to about an inch on each end and an inch clearance up top!

I had a buddy of mine bring his over and it "fit", VERY carefully. Realistically, I'm going to have a contractor buddy come out and take a look at putting a header in the far wall of the garage so that I have another 2" wiggle room.

I feel confident I can park the truck so that it will fit, but it will certainly take practice. If I ever build another house it WILL have at least a 25' deep garage.

Good luck!

I had no problem with length but have garage door paint on both mirrors. I have about a two inch clearance on each side, I do have the fold out towing mirrors.

Mine won't fit unless I take out my Workbench, tools, and garage shelving. Plus I don't really see too many benefits from garaging a 3/4 ton truck besides staying dry or not having to shovel snow. I let the lady keep her car in there.

My garage is 19' deep and my truck is 21' long. Width is fine and beware of low hanging brackets if you have an automatic garage door opener...

My garage is deep enough and wide enough, NO WAY is it tall enough. Truck was too tall before I added the 2" front leveling kit and 315/70R/17 tires.

It may never see the inside of a garage....

A very astute observation! Take that tape measure with you.

There can be problems due to both the length and width of the truck versus the garage size. The width issue comes into play primarly with the garage door opening. I have a 10' wide garage door opening and my standard mirrors just barely fit without having to fold them back. The tow mirrors "extend out" a much greater distance and would definitely have to be folded back in order to clear a 10' wide garage door opening.

IMHO you need a minimum 24' deep garage to park a "short wheel base" truck like I have. Even then it leaves a very tight space at the front and back to walk around the truck. A LWB truck will need much more depth.

If I touch the water softener with my front bumper, I have about one and a half inches between the back bumper and the garage door. As others have mentioned, I have about one inch of roof clearance.

I park my dually with the trailer tow mirrors(without folding them in) through a standard 9'x7' garage door. I have an inch or less on each mirror and about the same above the clearance lights.....very slow going and stressful ,so I'm seriously considering a single 18' or 20' door to make things easier.(garage is 24' wide x 26' deep outside measurements...and there's not much room to spare inside!) My wife closes her eyes every time I enter or leave the garage!
