difference between Lift pump and Transfer pump

difference between Lift pump and Transfer pump

just curious whats the difference between the lift pump and the transfer pump??

Lift pump function is usually to lift fuel from the vehicle's tank to the filter\IP - transfer pump function is usually to transfer fuel from one tank to another, as on vehicles with dual tanks - also from barrel or external tank to any other container, incl vehicle tank

When I had the "lift" pump replaced on my truck, the Dodge paperwork called it a "transfer" pump. Yeah, potato, tater kind of thing.
