Unhappy Defroster not working???????

This morning I noticed my heat selector is not going to defroster. It works on floor and vents but I switch it to defroster and it stays on floor. Is it the switch (selector) or a vacume line? Thanks!

Me too. I've noticed that if you turn the fan off for a while and run it sometimes it will start working again. It is real annoying though.

Just had my 2005 at the dealer last month for this problem. They had to replace the Control Air motor, part# 55056321-AE. Thank God it was under warranty!

I am replacing ALL of them since I am going to be in there, might as well.

5019632AA is $5.48
68004226AB is $16.60
5073964AA is $22.56
5127758AA I have not bought yet, was told it is $43, but dealer told me $96

Once I get a $43 pric I wil buy that one as well.

501 is the coupling
680 is the housing
507 is the door
512 is the HVAC

Also, the FinTemp Sensor is prone to breaking, BUT, I found out it is part of the Evaporator

I see it like this: Going through all of this labor, my truck has 130K+ on it, not only am I thinking of replacing the evaporator with Fin Temp Sensor, but ALSO the heater core, that way I will not have to worry about any of it for a LONG time since I plan on keeping this truck 'till the cows come home

It is funny, BUT, to pull out the whole dash, you might as well. Now, if my truck only had say 40K on it, then probaly not. But with 130K, and with my luck, I would no sooner get everything back together, and the heater core would start leaking

With your ball joints, if you had to pull the WHOLE front end off, you would be silly to not replace all the Ball Joints while you were there. But since you can do one side at a time, you can afford to wait.

I look at it like this:

If say you had an automatic, and second gear was slipping. Tranny is pulled apart and you find 2nd gear clutches worn. Would you replace JUST the 2nd gear clutches???? Nope, you would freshen the whole tranny up. Or, you would be crazy not too.

The dash is not THAT severe of an example, but a pretty good analogy.

And besides, if I have to remove the dash for a $16.00 part, and a $5 and $22 part are sitting right next to it, you are darn straight I am replacing them.

Now, replacing the Evaporator and Heater Core IS taking it to the extreme, I agree. But once again, with 130K, I plan on keeping this truck for over 200K, more than likely 1 of the 2 (if not both)will leak between now and then. I only want to pull the dash apart ONE time during my ownership of this truck

I aggree! The defroster isn't at the top of my list but its on the list! If I let the truck idle for 20 mins it melts everything anyways! Front end and right rear caliper is on the top of the list!
