De-badging Problems
A couple of years ago I had a big ding repaired in my passenger side door and they must have pulled the badges off to paint it. A few of the numbers fell off so I decided to debadge the entire truck but when they put the RAM 2500 back on they just glued it with a hard adhesive that I can't get off the truck heat, goo gone, and terpentine won't touch the stuff. Any one have any suggestions on how to get this off.
Thanks,
Dave

Just took some off last weekend with, I'm sure, the same stuff. No way without damaging the paint (a friend who's a pro was helping out). We ended up slicing it off with some thin nylon cord like dental flossing. Even when the emblem was off the car it was impossible to clean the adhesive without damage. We were painting anyway.

tried
I tried calling around but no one is open on Saturday. I am headed back to sun valley on Monday for work and would really like to have this done before I go. Thanks again.

The eraser is going to leave a little dull spot where you rub the paint. I tried it. Also Goof Off or Goo Gone what ever it is called, will eat the clear coat off.
You just have to take your time with a wash cloth and soapy water if you want no damage what so ever. Even if you do it right, your going to see where the emblem was at because the paint will not be faded.

There was a slight fade mark around the ones where I painstakingly removed the goo residue with my daughter's fingers (they whined and moaned the whole time ), but after a year and a couple waxings it is no longer apparent at all. I think whether or not the fading is a real issue depends on how old the truck is. Mine is an '07 that had kept it's badges for only 2 years before they were removed.

That sounds to hot to me..
I use Toluene it is rated as a adhesive thinner and does not harm the clear-coat.. You may have to tape a rag to the area and soak it with the toluene and let it set for a while to loosen it up..
It works great on getting the white gunk off of the trim as well, after cleaning use 303 to protect the trim..
You can get it at any Lowe's/Homer/Hardware/paint store

I have use the 3M product on my old truck and other trucks, but have not on my new dodge yet. I do have to highly recommend the product. Apply, let sit, then peel.
