Cruise control and 6spd...NO BRAKE LIGHTS

Is it normal for the cruise to stay on when hitting the brakes? Almost rearended someone using brakes.
Trying to figure out how to shut of the CC w/o turning it off, I hit the cluch..that doesn't work either--RPMS shot up to 4000 .
I think this is a huge safety flaw if you ask me.

mine turns off the instant I hit the brakes. It also turns off if I hit the clutch but there is a bit of a time delay.

Take your truck back to the dealer. There is something definitely wrong there. The cruise must disengage on clutch or brake activation. There is a switch or switches malfunctioning.

Can't shed any light on your cruise prob. but since you've owned both the auto and now the 6spd. I' d like to know what you thought of the automatic as I am about to buy one (trying to convince the wife to get the stick).
The truck I have in mind is a 3500 Off-Road pakg. with 410 rear and auto.
Thanks much and good luck with your problem

Just for the heck of it make sure your brake lights are working. Hitting the brakes should disengage your cruise.

There's a TSB on this. Take it to the dealer for the flash update.

Thanks, will do.
Desert Dancer, I love the 6spd over my auto, but I had the 47RE and have not driven the 48RE. There's not been one situation that I prefer the auto over the stick. My auto was fine; never had any problems, just didn't like it when towing, and I had the 4.10s. The 6spd with 3.73 is WAY better for towing.

OK, this is weird...my brake lights ARE NOT working. Is this something that could have been damaged when I installed the brake controller? Is that possible? Man, I don't even dare drive my truck now

Maybe something to do with the ATV trailer I was pulling? Plugging it into the 4 pin harness?

Will do, Joel
I checked for codes and I got P0514...battery temperature setting, or something like that. Could that have anything to do with it?

Another thought: the PIAA lights I installed? The rear lights come on when I turn on the headlights, just no brake lights. I pulled the EZ and disconnected the batteries for a while just to see. Plus, I might have to take it in tomorrow.

Sorry I keep replying to my own thread, but I'm getting stressed out about this.
What fues/size should I replace? Nothing in the owner's man. about the fuses. Maybe it's from the PIAA headlights? Is there a larger fuse I can go to to handle the loaD?

I had a new car a while back that the dealer didn't prep right, since none of the lights on the back end of the car worked! Turned out it was a blown (or missing? I don't remember now) fuse and I don't remember which one it was, either. Look for the brake light or brake pedal switch fuse....
