Cruise control

I know this subject has been beaten to death but I can't figure out what I'm missing. When trying to use the cruise it won't set, the light comes on in the dash and the high idle works so I don't think it's the clockspring or a power issue, brake switches appear to be working, and the only code I have is for the EGR that I keep "forgetting" to plug in. Is there anything I am forgetting about?

I had my dash out to get to HVAC, and cruise didn't work afterward. Although the brake lights worked, it turned out I didn't have the plug for the brake switch fully seated.

I think the switch has a separate pole for cruise control input.

Hope that helps.

Don't know if this applies to our trucks but i had a car that lost its center stop light bulb (the one in the back window) and the cruise would not work until i replaced it.

You should verify that your vacuum pump is working. It controls the diaphragm that makes the cruise work. Many times the vacuum lines break and then the pump constantly runs until it burns out....
If you look at the very center of your cowl you will see a T-fitting with plastic lines attached. The line going to the driver side goes to the CC. The line going to the pass side leads to your pump...

I think they did away with the vacuum pump in 04-05...? I know my 06 doesn't have one that I have found.....yet! They are all electronic now...
