crash test 04.5

last night a drunk driver darted out from a side street and nailed me in the right front bumper,,that were she got hit to,,after colliding her car got spun around and hit my right back wheel and the whole right side of the rear bumper,,,she was driving a 91 full size ford station wagon,,no insurance of coarse,,,i was doing about 28 miles per hour, don"t think she was doing over 20 mph at time of impact,,and it was raining,,,,i swear,,i didn"t get budges a inch, infact i hardly felt it,,just heard all the noise,,her car was totaled,,rdiator into the motor hood all and right fender all crunched up, parts laying all over the road,my truck has the right bumper area pushed in abou1 1/2 in. and acouple small cut in the rubber and alot of paint scratching on the rubber bumper cover,,man,,these trucks are solid!!!!
so now I"m thinking about a new truck,,what do the 06 s get for mileage???,,I"m getting 22mpg hwy. with this one,,kinda disapointed because i have 21,000 on this one and was looking forward to changing to synthetic oil

06 has bumper to bumper (including powertrain) of 3/36. After that, it is only the Cummins that has a 5/100k warranty. My 03 got 21mpg hwy, this one, my best yet has only been 16.5mph hwy. I like the ride and handling much better with the exception of the seats. Stiff and heavy starched canvas I am thinking.

This is 05MXDiesel's truck after being t-boned at about 50mph by a mid-size car. Makes me feel safe to ride in mine.

I am glad you didn't get hurt in the wreck and sorry to hear about your truck.

These trucks are solid for a fact. My old 2000 CTD had a good impact with an Olds Cutlass. Teenager decided to pull out in front of me and the wife while we were coming to a cross road. He nailed it to try and beat me then decided to stop, I slammed on the brakes and swerved left, then he decided to try and beat me to it again. He didn't! Hit his car was hit w/passenger side front, and I went into the ditch (swamp). It removed the entire front of the car from the firewall up; motor, hood and everything. Only felt like a big woodchuck to me and the wife. We were fine, Cummins still running in the swamp. Tow truck pulled me out of the swamp. I put on my spare tire on the front and drove home. It was actually a good deal b/c my front end was needing rebuilt and I got my rocker panels sprayed w/rhino liner. Saved me some money really.

Back just before Christmas I saw a 2nd gen Ram Sport rearend a Pontiac Grandprix at a intersection. The Ram pushed the Pontiac's trunk all the way up to the rear window. The Ram suffered a crack grill and a bumper that was pulled down.
We complain about the thin sheetmetal on the Dodges but there must be some serious steel behind that sheetmetal.

I finally get to pick it up today. I am sick of my dakota rental that gets 10mpg. I am still sketchy everytime I enter an intersection.

Ed, i know exactly what you mean. I baby mine too. I park way out in the parking lot trying to keep from getting door pecks. I do all maintenance to it and everything. Something about these cummins that make you take it personal. I guess the $30k price tag on it also makes me take care of it

Me too. I am hoping to keep mine for LONG LONG time. So I am trying to set it up like I want and take care of it and baby it (maintenance wise).....not driving wise...LOL.

Glad to hear it! Hope it is good as new. I have used your truck as an example at least a couple of times. There was a guy who posted about his Aunt giving him hell about buying his Cummins truck.....vs. his cousin who bought a chevy Aveo. (little bitty flimsy car). She was telling him how inefficient he was and how he wasted his money blah blah blah. I asked him to ask her would she rather be in his cousin's Aveo or a truck like yours when t-boned by a mid size car at 50mph...and used your pic. I don't know if he ever asked her or got a response.

I still cannot belive you survived that Big Dan. I read your post a while back on the accident. By far the worst looking crash I have ever seen. I don't think you would have survived in any other type of truck. Sorry to hear about your truck Ed Paul, I know what you mean, it's hard to replace one.
