Cracking 3rd brake light lense
Cracking 3rd brake light lense
At ten months, last November and ten thousand miles I noticed the third brake light lens was cracked. It is not cracked at the screw holes from over tightening. It is cracking from the bottom center section. I thought it may have just been that way since I got the truck and I just never noticed it until then. I decided to order the part and pay for it myself rather than risk having the truck damaged while in for a warranty repair. The part # 5072594-AD listed for $47.75 and I paid $35.00 for it. I felt this was the best solution. Bite the bullet and go on. All was well until yesterday when I noticed it is starting to crack again. This is seven months and nine thousand miles later. Has anybody else had this problem or is my problem just an isolated incident? My invoice does state all Mopar parts are covered for 12 month/12,000 mile warranty. I'll give my parts guy a call again tomorrow. Regardless I sure would like to know what is causing the lense to crack. Any ideas?
6/23: Replaced under the 12/12 parts warranty no charge. The 12/12 covers only from the date and mileage from the time of the original part purchase. If it cracks again it will most likely have to be replaced under the 36 mos./ 36,000 miles basic warranty. The part warranty will have expired if it lasts the same amount of time and mileage as previously.
