Couple of Questions
Just received my 04.5 3500 4X4 ETH/DEE Laramie, 3-3-04. Transmission when hot is VERY hard to get in 1st & 2nd. 3,4, 5, 6th and reverse smooth as silk. Hope after a period of time (break in) 1st & 2nd will get better. Questions:
(1) Has anybody already went to the 180* thermostate on the "600" motor. Any pros or cons.
(2) Has anybody found a source for an after market sway bar for the rear.
(3) How are you guys securing your toolbox to the bed of the truck. Hate to drill thru toolbox and top of rail to put a bolt thru if there is a good alternate.
Thanks, Spdbird.

About the rear sway bar
There is an automotive catalog that I regularly get called JC Whitney. They are also on the internet at www.jcwhitney.com
They have a rear sway bar for the 2003 Ram. I don't know if it will work on the 2004.5. I was wondering the same thing because I was thinking about adding a rear sway bar on mine in about a week, I hope!

HighTen, Buzzer, thanks for the links. A little follow up on the 6 speed. On my old 6 speed (01.5 dually), for 1st & 2nd shifts I could throw the gear lever all the way to the left for 1st & 2nd. On the 04.5, it seems the "gates" are a little closer (maybe my imagination) but to get into 1st & 2nd smoothly, it seems like I only need to go just a couple of inches to the left instead of the full throw. There is no comparison between my old truck and this truck but I hope this one is trouble free like my old one. Dodge has come a long way IMHO over the 2nd Gen. I think Tomygun is the way to go if you can sale your old truck and purchase from him. Later. Spdbird.
My six speed was about half a quart low on fluid from the factory. The lube is supposed to be a "lifetime fill" with no fluid changes called for in the maint schedule. I drained and refilled mine at 25k miles and the shift quality noticeably improved. I used Penzoil Synchromesh (it meets the Dodge spec) that I found at Auto Zone. Try it, it might work for you. YMMV
You must tow alot if you are regularly using first gear.
