Considered Torture

Perhaps boredom or something to kill my time I was browsing autotrader back in January and came on a 2004.5 Dodge Ram 2500 quad for a great price. I had been wanting a Dodge Ram with a cummins what felt like for ever and I immediately fell in love with the truck and emailed the dealership. Its was so frustrating because i had no way of calling this dealership and talking to them. After filling out online applications and driving myself nuts, multiple emails to my mother she contacted them for me. As by pure luck, i called her just as she received a call from the dealership and she placed me on a conference call with them. I immediately put a deposit down on the truck and had the paperwork started. As anyone here knows it makes a grown man giddy to be getting his first cummins. Well here is the torture part, im currently stationed in Iraq and have been since september. I bought that truck and had my mom drive an hour and a half to go pick it up, she was the first to drive it I have been sitting here since january thinking about her(my truck) and what mods i want to do when i get home. Im stuck in this armpit of civilization for another 6 weeks at which point i will be going home for two weeks when i finally get to drive, touch and see my new truck. I have been on this site almost everyday trying to learn as much as i can about my new toy, and what mods work best, i want to thank everyone for helping me pass and kill time.

I was in the middle east for two years, finding something to pass your time can become a challenge in itself! Actually, I was there with my wife and kids and I wasn't in Iraq, so it wasn't so bad...but it was still the middle east.

Congrats on your truck, I bet it is torture!
Stay safe, get home soon! And Thank you!!!

Welcome to DTR

If you need someone to drive your truck let me know. Stop on in to the coffee shop once in awhile and let us know what's going on.

I knew "someone" would offer to help keep the battery charged. I can't believe it took 4 posts though? Thanks for your service.

Only two weeks? After driving the truck, I hope you don't go AWOL. You can spend a lot of money on that sucker in two weeks. Be sure and post some pics when you get here.

Thanks for being another American Hero and taking care of the free world.

Thank you everyone for your support and kind words. Im from northwest ohio, and sure am looking forward to finally getting to drive my truck. You all are right about spending lots of money those two weeks, i have so many things planned to do to it. I doubt i will have the time to do everything. I will be putting a set of westin black stainless nerf bars on, a 2" leveling kit with bilstein 5100's and possibly a bypass oil filter. Im considering putting a quadzilla in, but im still researching it, not sure if i will get the xzt or Xzillaraider standard. I dont want to burn up the tranny, plus i really can't call DTR shop to find out the prices right now, so i will probably do it when i get home. Ill probably get the Xzillaraider standard and just throw the transgo shift kit in, but thats probably when i come home for good in september. This site really has become addicting, and i spend what little free time i have on it. I will be sure to throw some pictures up when i get home and after the mods are thrown in. Its definitely going to be a long/quick 2 weeks.

I highly recommend the XZillaRaider race box over the standard one - you'll really appreciate the extra level of power on the highest setting!
