Cold Weather Starting

I was leaving work yesterday and it was around 20 degrees F. I went out to start my truck and let run for about 10 minutes before I leave. Waited for Glow Plug light to go out, start truck, it runs for about 10 seconds and dies, started truck again and it done the same thing. On the third startup it started and went immediately to high idle, Anyone else having problems with the truck dying after initial startup, Do I need to have this checked out?

I haven't had this happen. You might want to try cycling the intake heater relay twice before starting. Turn the key one, wait for the wait to start light to go out, turn the key off, count to five, turn the key on, wait for the wait to start light to go out for the second time and then start the truck. That's what I do any time the temp is below freezing.

if your glow plugs are working fine, you might have accidentally tried to start a powerstroke. LOL.

Rammer2007, what he is trying to tell you is your dodge doesn't have glow plugs, only a grid heater.

I had mine do the start then die..
start, run then die yesterday morning.

The temp was around 0. I assumed the fuel was gelling up, so drove my jeep to work and picked up a bottle of diesel 911 on the way home.

I poured about half of the bottle in and let it sit for 30 min or so. It started up fine. Everything seems to be good. I'm guessing that it's my bad for skipping the anti-gel in this tank. I won't do that again..

No. I think it had more to do with not running anti-gel though.
