clearance light question

I know there are multiple threads on this topic but i have some specific questions. I bought the recon smoked out lights. My truck doesnt come with them so i am going to have to measure. One thing im not sure of is the mounting screws. Do they have to have some kind of nut or catch or do they straight up screw into the metal? If so what size hole do you drill for them 1/4 "? I know the factory ones have it by looking at the service manual.

The factory lights have plastic anchors inserts for the metal screws. There are three holes (in the roof) for each light. One 3/4" for the wires/lightbulb base and two 1/4"(?) for the plastic anchors.

Bump. Also does anyone know how to prevent them from leaking?
Do they or do they not come with a gasket of some sort?
Maybe some silicone on the underside of each light before mounting
would help with any leakage issues?

First off DONT even try to use the screws that come with the recon kit. B/c i tried, i spent another hour running to a harware store to find something that would work. I went and got some REAL sheetmetal screws that were about the exact same size as what came in the recon kit. I drilled a small pilot hole for the sheetmetal screws and viola.

I siliconed the crap out of mine. I put a circle around every whole there was and then a large circle on the foam gasket that will surroud all holes in the roof. Havent had a leak yet.

THe only place that i fear will leak, will be where the screws go through the light housing. The kit comes with little o-rings that go btwn the housing and the head of the screw, but when i tightened down the screws, the o-rings bulged and pop out a bit from the head of the screws. I havent seen anything leak yet, but im gonna try and figure something out when i get the chance.

well i ordered the nuts that go with the factory lights, i just hope they work with the recon. Those guys said just it doesnt need it but i know that if the screws contact the metal it will corrode. as for leaks, silicone will take care of that. Does anyone know for sure what bit i need for the anchor nuts to fit.

Does anyone know the location of the lights? I also don't have factory lights and bought the smoke recon's. Too bad they don't come with any mounting instructions.
