BFG KM2 or Toyo Open Country M/Ts
BFG KM2 or Toyo Open Country M/Ts
After viewing several different posts about leveling kits and tires I see that a few people have been going with the BFG KM2 tires? I had planned to go with the Toyo M/Ts 35x12.50 on the stock wheels. But may be interested in the BFG KM2's. How long do they last? Hows the road noise? How do they compare to the Toyos? And what is the price difference?
One big difference... within the 35" size range the Toyo is E rated whereas the BFG is D I believe, the Toyo's carry a higher load rating. Many folk have said to have had problems with the BFG's, been running them under various trucks for the last 15 yrs and never had a problem and easily gotten 50000 miles out of them. Haven't had a chance to run my KM2's yet (still sitting in my shed awaiting wheels) so I can't comment on noise or ride characteristics, but if they are anything like the old BFG Mud T/A, they should be a great all around tire.
Look at your own needs, and find your best deal, don't think you could go wrong with either one.

So far I have been very happy with my 35'' KM2s. I have about 8000 miles on them so far. I have pulled my HEAVY Toyhauler and drag raced with them too.
They are wearing good! I need to rotate them....but so far I have nothing but good things to say about them.
There are a few pics in my gallery with them. https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...0&ppuser=31499
Before this new set of tires, I was running 285 BFG ATs and got 50,000 trouble free miles....with maybe 10k left in them....before making the change.

I've had 7 trucks in 5 years. When i drive one off the lot i go straight to the tire store and put either bfg mt or at's on from the get go. I put them on my dodge with 128 miles and still have a set on it now. With a set of the mud tires you should get around 50k from them. Never had the at's on my dodge so i cant tell you the milage but had 3 sets on my duramax. The ole duramax ate tires so you cant really compare.
