clear coat quality/quantity

I am wondering is anyone has any info on the clear coat on our trucks. If I had to guess I would say paint quality varies from factory to factory but are all the CTD made in Mexico?
I would like to take some 2000 grit wet paper and "slick out" the clear coat but I am wondering if there is enough there to do this w/o breaking through to the paint color. I have done this time consuming operation to vehicles before and it makes a huge impact on the reflectivity of the paint. Even now my truck looks real shiny but if I were to get rid of the slight orange peal it would be awesome. Recommendations please?

I've done the same thing to last couple of trucks , it gives a show car shine . I haven't done it to my new truck yet maybe I'll wait and see if you sand through the clearcoat first. PM me if you get a chance to do it.
