aftermarket bumper - what should i coat it with? bedliner? powder coat?

I bought an aftermarket bumper that needs to be painted, powder coated, or something. I am just curious what everyone else is using. spray on bedliner seems like it would work well, but I do not want something that will fade in the Sun. i also like the idea of color matching it to my light silver paint. i would like to keep rock chips to a minimum (i drive alot of gravel roads), so i think spray on bedliner would work best for that aspect of things. thoughts?

I agree, bedliner is the best for chip protection. Can always use Son Of A Gun or Armor All to bring back the luster.

Spray on bedliner is what we thought too and the bumper manufacturer applied it when he built the bumpers for my sons truck. He also does a lot of gravel and the rear bumper has just about all come off so I say NO to the bedliner and just paint it every year or so, also the back up sensors don't fit the holes very well and keep falling out if they are half full of bedliner.

I don't know as it was applied by the bumper manufacturer as their finish, it looks decent though. To be fair the front bumper stood up pretty well but it doesn't get the rocks like the rear one does.Backwoods Bumpers made both front and rear so whatever they use.

i found a picture of the bumper i got painted to match the same color as my pickup. i think it looks pretty clean, but it takes away some of that "big, badass, offroad" look you get with these big replacement bumpers.

im not sure which route to go. i have searched on a bunch of forums (even ford and GM forums). both powder coating and bed liner seem to have their ups and downs. this is my pickup. what do you guys think? black or silver to match the paint?

I had one of Jeremy's bumpers on my last pickup. FWIW the powder coating held up extremely well. Whoever he has do it knows how to powdercoat. That being said, my frontier gear bumper (way cheaper than TDK and a mistake I won't make again, next one will be TDK again for sure, you get what you pay for rings true) came powdercoated and lasted about 3 months before starting to peel and chip. The step bars that match didn't last that long on the gravel roads here in MT. I had the step bars line-x'd and they have held up extremely well. No chips and no peeling at all. The only gripe I have is they do gray from the nice black unless you keep them very clean and shined up with a spray on chemical like armor all or the like.

I do like the color coded look. Not sure if the color matched line-x would look equally as good or not.
