"Check Gauges" flashing on and off intermitenly
Re:"Check Gauges" flashing on and off intermitenly
Got the reflash today, so far everything is fine, I'm going camping this weekend, so I'll let everyone know if I see the light again now that it is supposedly fixed.

Re:"Check Gauges" flashing on and off intermitenly
I have the "check gauges" and "low wash" gremlin. Time for a reflash I guess. Oh well, I need to bring the truck in anyway to have the front end looked at because it is making a clunking noise when I make a right hand turn.

I also had a "lamp out" light for a day or so that cured itself so I wonder if that can tied in with the above problem.
Re:"Check Gauges" flashing on and off intermitenly
For the first 12k or so my check gauges lite flashed about 2 times I saw. Last couple of weeks it flashes a couple times a minute. Drove 6 hours today and could almost predict when it would flash. Musta done it 50 times. Seems when I lift off the throttle it would flash. Wierd. Black electrical tape over the lite has fixed it for now. I'll wait a bit with the reflash to see if it works...

I have seen some posts where the instructions were not followed and the entire instrument cluster was destroyed resulting in a new cluster having to be ordered. I believe there is also an issue in regards to the stereo system when they do the reflash. You could try doing a search on the instrument cluster reflash.

I had the CO2 recall, the alternator bracket TSB, and the Check Gauges TSB performed on my truck about 2 weeks ago. The dealer 'said' that they followed the instructions to the T for the check gauges TSB, and the STILL killed my truck. They killed the main ECM. It didn't even know that it was attached to a truck. Mine wouldn't run. They had to do a bit of work with Star to get the truck to run again and to get the cluster to start functioning again. Since then, I've not had any lights show up, and my Brake light used to flash on from time to time when I'd come to a stop. So far that hasn't happened again.
