Changed RBQ to RB1 and no audio

Search was no help...

I have the RBQ with Infinity speaks. I bought an RB1 aoff EBay that came from an 02 Jeep Cherokee. I hooked it up and got no audio from it at all. No AM, FM, CD, or anything. The steering wheel controls, nav, etc all work OK. I sent it back to the guy and he has it working fine in his Jeep. He is willing to refund my cash and all but I really want this thing to work.

I hooked the RBQ back up and it works just fine. Any ideas what the heck could be going on?

Get your money back and then try to find a different seller. I saw a guy on a Viper site out of NY, about six months ago, that was selling Nav systems with a customized ipod input built in, try and do a search for him. Good luck.

He is sending me another unit but I think it is my truck. I looked around on dodge talk and found some vague posts about an amp power on wire that was changed mid 2004. It causes the amp to not power on thus no audio when you change head units. That may be the problem but none of the posts have the solution...

I was talking with a family member the other day that works on new DC cars. He mentioned the aftermarket stereo's are not Canbus enabled. They also won't work the factory installed amps in the dash typically on the driver's side. I didn't ask when Canbus started. Could be the Jeep stereo is too old to work in your Dodge. Try search for Canbus and if it applies to your truck. I know my 06' has Canbus.

not much help but I moved my rb1 from my 2003 to 2004.5 then to 2005 where it currently lives no problems, also custom installed one in my brothers ford and the only thing that did not work were the dimming lights because off the canbus wire,so with all that said i don't think it's your truck.

ps BUT I WAS WRONG ONCE BEFORE

Well started digging into it and have run into this: http://www.dodgetalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=115313

I forgot the radio has all 22 pins coming out of the back, so I have no idea what should and what should not be connected. This is killing me. Can anyone with a 2004.5 Ram check their wiring harness and see what wires are actually connected to the 22 pin plug?

Just an FYI aftermarket radios will easily work with the OEM amplifier and speakers, they sound pretty **** good too.

Yeah, this is the least expensive and theft prone way to add navigation though. It looks like Dodge started doing the 05 wiring scheme in late 04 and my truck is one of them. Looks like I need an 05 RB1 that sends the power through the #14 bus wire not #13....

Well I figured it out. wjjeeps.com recently updated their page to reflect the following:

P/N 56038629AB
P/N 56038629AC
P/N 56038629AD
P/N 56038629AE

(Note: The above radios are not compatible in vehicles having the factory Premium sound system, they do not have the circuitry to trigger the external amplifier)

Any with AG, AH, or AI will work. I found an AI and everything works great!
