Change color on nav screen?

Is their any wat to change the colors on the nav screen, no me they really suck. the main roads are fine, but all the side (town) roads almost blend into the back ground and are very hard to make out.

Plus it would be nice if their would give you direction on these town roads, it doesn't seem to use them at all and will send you a long way out of your way when you can cut across country.

I don't know about the factory unit, but I know on my aftermarket kenwood navigation deck, in the settings you can change the color of the roads. Also you can change the preference to find a route that is the shortest distance rather than the quickest time, because these things will usually default to a highway where they think you will be driving faster. Just pull out your owners manual and get down deep in the settings, I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for.

I have looked through the owners manual that is why I figured I would ask if their is an "unpublished" way to do it.

You can change the brightness in the setting and that is about it.

It is set to shortest distance already, it would even provide turn by turn if you get off main state and county roads.
