Thats a good cb. Just make sure to get your swr below 1 and you'll be fine.

Here is one more. I went with a magnet mount antenna centered on top of the cab.

SWR is basicly a mesure used to match the antenna to the radio. The lower the swr the better the match is in turn allowing the radio to operate better. For lack of a better way of explaining it it's almost like feedback which will choke the radio down and if bad enough will fry the finals in the radio. Any good cb shop can set your swr in just a few minutes or you can get a meter from radio shack and do it yourself. A reading of 1.5 will work and won't cause harm to the radio but as another poster stated a reading of 1 or less is ideal. Your swr only effects the radio while transmitting so it's safe to hook it up and listen but you really should avoid talking until you get the antenna matched (swr set).

SWR (standing wave ratio) Be sure to get coax cable in lenths of 3. 18 to 21ft cable usually will have lower swr's. Then you can adjust the antena lenth to get exact. your cb might have a swr built in. If so flip the switch to calibrate, key the mic and turn the calibrate **** until the needle lines up with the red line at the full sweep end, and then flip switch to swr and key up to see what you have.
