Where is the best place to tie into power for a CB radio?

Best thing is to run back to battery with inline fuse or circuit breaker IMHO.

When I installed mine, I cut a slit in the rubber gasket where the clutch peddle goes and ran the wire straight to the battery.
Some tie it to the lighter wire.

I got it from the drivers power seat wire. I put a noise filter and a fuse inline and it all fits up under the seat. The power seat hasa a heavy gauge wire that never gets used and with the noise filter my radio works well.

Thanks for the ideas. Power seat wire sounds good but do you need a noise filter?

Haven't done it to this truck yet...But all my other I ran a heavy gauge wire into the cab to a new fuse block that I use to hook up other accessories to, plus ran a separate ground too. give you a more dedicated line.

You dont need to,but for a more clear signal it would be nice.

I tapped into the power on the brake controller.. Haven't finished the install yet so I can't tell you how well it works. My last truck I had it on the lighter but the noise was horrid.

I put a noise filter on the power seat wire connection. I'm not sure if I needed it, but I did it to be safe.

I'm pretty new to CB's. The reading I did suggested that the best thing to do for clean power was to go right to the battery, so that's what I did. That's what the guys with "big setups" do. Underdash (cig lighter, etc.) power is supposedly very "dirty" with all the electrics. A noise filter would be a good idea.

Where in the Republik of Iyyinois are you, BMH?

I have the radio mounted on the center seat bracket, that's why I went with the seat wire. I have since run keyed and unkeyed power into the cab for futute needs, and rewired a few things into the new blocks.

I'm up north near Crystal Lake.
