Question CAT or Sootbox?

Do our trucks have a CAT or a Sootbox. The only car i had seemed to have sensors before and after the CAT. I thought our trucks had Soot traps like the Mercedes diesels had in the 80s

Depending on what time your 04 was built, you would have a cat. If you have the 04.5, with the 325/600 it will have a cat in it. If it's an 04, with a 305/555 motor, there is no cat. I don't know if there is a resonator on those or not. The cat is a very large round piece, it's not shaped like the cat on a car at all. It's big enough around that the edge of my skid plate there has curves in the edges of it to clear it.

with the 600 engines, the cats on them are single stage oxidizing catalists. they have the 3rd event injection to get the exhaust hot enough to make the cat work.. on the earlier engines with cats, i am assuming they are similar in design to the 600's cats, but they don't have the extra injection event to keep the cat at full temp
