Camper information sheet from glove box of 04.5 2500

Just wondering what is the weight rating from DC for a camper on a Quad Cab 3500 SRW long bed 4x4 on the information sheet in the glove box? Mine said: This vehicle is not recmmended for use with a slide-in camper. I have a Alaskan 8' non cabover, pop up camper for my new 2500 that should will not strain it at all. My 87 f250 with a 6.9 Banks handled it with ease. This truck sure can pull across traffic safer at the the 101 freeway, "Blood alley" Prunedale CA with the 600 automatic!

My camper loading sheet lists the cargo weight rating as "0650" in pounds... I presume a misprint.

The owner's manual just referrs you to the camper loading sheet...

I would guess as long as the camper center of gravity falls witin what the sheet says, and you are under your GAWR (mine is 9900) you would be fine. For my truck, that would leave a payload of about 2,600.

From other threads, the only difference between the 2500 and 3500 srw rear suspension is an overload spring. I have a small camper and I'm buying a 2500 reg cab long bed. If I had a big Lance, I would go for the drw.

I just ordered a 3500 SRW because my 2500 with Camper Package still gets a payload rating of 8800 where the 3500 gets 9900 GVW. It just makes me feel better that I am not as far over on the 3500 as I was on the 2500.

Do I understand this right? You buy a 1-ton truck and it comes with a note saying that you can't put a camper in it? Even one designed for short bed trucks?

One of the reasons I was going with a HD truck was that it enabled me to get a small camper in the future.

My 87 F250 6.9 super cab H.D. 4x4 long bed came with the same form in the glove box and it said 1550 lbs. for a slide in camper. It had a maximum trailer weight tow rating of only 6,100 lbs.!! My 2004.5 2500 quad cab long bed stated on the same form " This vehicle is not recommened for use with a slide-in camper" Note they use the words "not recommend". I think it has to do with why vehicles are going to be lower in the future. Roll over. The other reason I bought a Dodge besides the Cummins was I like the height of the truck.
