Cab Plugs

Taking the gem for her first trip to the dealer Fri for computer flash and a few other nick nack things , talking to service writer about cab plugs and he gives me the stupid act . I find it real hard to believe he has not had anyone ask for them yet , but that's his story and he's sticking to it . Could someone that has gotten them please give me some part #'s or something to go on to give me a leg up on these guys ? A dealer phone number where it was done would probably work too ............ geez how I love the service dept's at dealers !!

Mixer Man,
Are you talking about the holes under the cab covered with tape? I got the rubber plugs from the dealer, free, and put them in myself. The part # is #04860953AA. Dsteinke picture does not look like what I used.

Dsteinke, Where did you install that plug? Thanks, Jack

I don't find his story that hard to believe. Think about it. Without DTR or a similar site you would have never known the plugs were missing. The vast majority of truck Owners do not visit sites such as this and have no idea there are plugs missing. The vast majority of folks working at dealerships don't either so they probably don't know until one of use "educated" folks comes in and lays it all out for them.

My early 03 had them all in place. Now I have 6 out 'cause that's where the Putco bars install. Has anyone had the plugs fall out? Should I hang on to these as spares?

I thought I had the cab plugs in: (silver plugs in floor pans)

Then I saw the black tapr in the "uni-body" rails of the cab (verticle surface below the doors).

See pictures.

Is the tape part where the cab plugs go?

Sorry for the tripple post - don't know how to attach more than one pic at a time.

I'm guessing the black tape is where the cab plugs go... Help

Talked to my dealer Friday. He said "He called Dodge and they do not come on the new trucks. You can buy them for $1.50 each if I want them." Man, that stinks!!!

Anyone else get this answer for the `05's

If this is true I'll be be asking other dealers in the area. I'm cheap when it comes to this stuff. Hopefully I can find a dealer that gives them to me for free

I had me truck in for the 70mph vibe, door weather stripping tearing and cab plugs, see other posts if interrested...

Yeah, I think I was quoted something like $45+ for a complete set a while back... what a joke. I'll keep a spare roll of duct tape around for $1.95 instead... haha!

go to the parts department with your vin#, and have them search to see if those plugs are suppose to be there for your vin# if they are, ask for a print out and give it to the service maniger. that's what i had to do with mine...

Maccandy thanks for the part #s , the chimps at the dealer tell me first they had never heard of that so I took part #s with me . Now they tell me plugs are no longer used on assembly and I can purchase 16 of them for $ 2.61 /each . Is DC that strapped for cash ........... geez this really trips my trigger !!
