Question Cab Lights?

Hello everyone. I just had some cab lights installed at my dealer and was just curious as to if they should light up along with the parking lights when one unlocks or locks the truck? I not quite sure where they picked up power for the lights whether it was @ the fuse box or in the pass. side A-pillar. I would like them to light up when I lock/unlock the truck if possiable. Thanks John

Thumbs up

My 03 cab lights do not flicker either like the park lights do when using the key fob (lock/unlock). You would probably have to find the circuit the park lights are on and adapt the cab lights to this in order for it to flicker like the park lights do at the same time. Maybe someone with more electical experience will chime in.

I still would like to have my cab lights flicker as well. I tried to do it with my recon tailgate bar, I got them to flicker but the lamp out light was on and the "dinger" was dinging so that got old and had to undo all that. I havent tried to do it with the cab lights yet, but I would sure like to if anyone knows how it can be done.

All the electrical knowledge on this site and no one knows how to make cab lights blink when you lock/unlock your truck? Bumping back to the top one more time.

Actually, JJOiner, Tony T answered your question about getting the lights to blink. The problem will be overiding the lamp out circuit test that the ECM does. You may have to go with a relay and leds lamps to activate the circuit.

Honestly, I would try Led Bulbs first and wire the lamps to the parking light circuit that flashes when using the key fob. If the lamp out indicator comes on then go with a relay to fire the lights. When using the relay, wire the lamp like the factory would. Then take a piggy-back wire and splice into this wire. Run this piggy-back wire to the relay closed side (87a). Then run a signal wire to the relay from the lamps that flash circuit to fire the relay. The piggy back wire should only have power when the truck lights flash. See attachement. Granted this is only a rough idea with no idea/test to tell if it will work.
