A/C temp change w/ Rpm Change
Well I been to the dealer three times last week for my A/C not working right and its still not working right!! First they said it was low on 134 so the added 134 and leak check and pulled vacuum and no leaks! Next after they said it was ready I left the dealer and it was having temp fluctuations with rpm change and I took it back and they ran some more test and found the fan clutch about to go out so they wanted to change it. Next day went back to pick it up and the same thing!! Well they ran a cool down test and it failed,so they checked the re-circ door and the heater door and all was workin fine! Well they want me to drive it and see if it still does the same thing, and it does!! What I want to know is why do I still have temp changes from cool to cold air when the rpms change? This happens at take off and running down the road also. I think I may have a weak clutch on the compressor but they said that couldn't be it, but they are only checking the compressor at idle. Could it be the clutch slipping at higher RPM's??? Also it changes the temp on both sides but mostly on the drivers side! Thanks Jason
No, just regular controls. Also I was told if the clutch was bad it would work or it wouldn't! Is that right or could the magnets be weak? At one point while it was idling I went outside to get in my truck and the clutch was smoking. I only had that happen one time. Just a little more info! Thanks Jason
Your issue is very common. Post after post about it. The actual problem is the fan clutch is controlled by the ECM. When you take off from a stock the ECM disengages the fan clutch and the high side shoots up due to the condensor getting hot due to lack of air flow. The only fix for it is to put an electric fan on the condensor. This solves the problem and the A/C works much much better. The part #'s for the fan and relay are in the thread I started. Do that mod and you will be happy. Cost of the parts are $154.00 from Summit Racing.
