Talking Bypassing headlight switch?

I recall browsing some posts a while back on bypassing the headlight switch to gain more voltage to the headlights increasing usable light to the road. I've been unable to find the post using the search tab so I was hoping someone had info on the mod or a link to one for a 2005 3500.

thanks!

It's not bypassing the headlight switch, but bypassing the Front Control Module and the substandard gauge headlight wiring. I did the mod using the 9007 wiring harness from suvlights.com. The kit comes with everything needed except the load resistors to prevent the FCM from tripping the lamps out indicator.

Here's my first writeup. https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...e-t257627.html

Howabout bypassing it to where you can run the fogs and the highbeams at the same time? I saw a writeup on that awhile back but can't find it.

There's a way to wire that feature in the fuse box so the fogs stays on with the high beams. Only issue with that is the fogs are on all the time when the parking lamps or lights are on. Lot's of info over on the Dodge Talk forum on doing this.

Another way is have the dealer use the scan tool to enable this feature. And I think the Bully Dog programmer can too.

If it was me I would completely bypass the FCM and have the fogs on a separate power circuit with a toggle switch in the cab. And have a relay tapped to one of the parking lamp wires as a control signal so you don't accidently leave the fogs on and run down the batteries.

Why not just run a relay off the battery and then tap a high beam wire for the head lights as the trigger wire??? This way you would still have all functions of the factory switch but when you flipped the high beams the FCM would shut off the power to the fogs but your relay would kick them right back on with full voltage. You could even run another relay beside it to trigger you low beams to stay on also. The only downside I see would be that you might loose the "lamp out" indicator.
