Either automatic will have the DG8 code. The DGP code means 47re, and DGA means 48re.

Standard output trucks built in early 2003 first had the 47re, but when DC ran out of them they started using the 48re (mine was built in March '03 and has the 48re). Your build date is on the driver's door data tag.
Thanks...that's what I thought I had. Mine was built in Sep. of '02!

My 03 has 171,000 miles on it.
I have replaced ALL the u joints, the transfer case and now I am having the NV5600 6 speed rebuilt. IF you happen to go the 6 speed route....Make SURE it is in good working order as these are VERY expensive to fix now days since they are no longer made. I'm putting $3250. into mine and that doesn't include the labor for removal and re install.
I still wouldn't give this truck up though.
I'm STUCK driving an 86 Ford 4x4 dump right now while my truck is gettin fixed. 4 bbl 460, it may suck gas, but it's no match in power to my Ram.
