Brake lights stuck on
Ok Yesterday My Brake lights stuck on, I even unpluged the brake light switch like old school and they didnt go off, I guess the computer reads the switch and sends a signal to turn on the brake lights (Why couldnt they leave it the way it useto be)? any way about 5 min they went out by there self Is this normal? did any one else have this?
Is it a problem?
Oh yeah This is a 04.5 quad cab dually 4X4 48re auto with 47K on the clock.

My truck did that when I first got it. The switch was on the ragged edge of making. The brake lights were on when I was walking in the house
. I put one of those felt pads ( the type you put on the bottom of a lamp, so it will not scratch the counter top) between the stop & switch and all is well.
I would think your truck would be the same. I could'nt find any type of adjustment on mine.

You got me, I hope someone else smarter than me can help you on that. Good luck. My only other suggestion is dodge website. www.dodge.com/bodybuilder/ has elctrical schematics and stuff. I used it to install my gauges.
Mine use to come on by them selfs.I had to have the key on before they did come on like that.It was at the dealer 5 times for that. They replaced the instument cluster ,Dc modual , few other things and it finaly stoped doing that.
Are you sure it's the brake lights?
The reason I ask is because if you turn the truck off before turning the headlight switch off, the headlights and such will stay on for a while before turning off.

I would check to see if the inside of the trailer connector is full of mud/moisture/corrosion causing a short. Seen it before. If it happens again, give the wiring a wiggle at the connector to see if it changes anything. I would also have a good look at your trailer brake controller (assuming you have one) to see if it's causing it.
mine has always done this too. I have to pull up on the brake pedal most times to get them to shut off. I see that maybe we are talking two different things but Maybe try to pull up and see if it helps. I notice it the most when trying to take off from a stoplight. The trailer brakes will hold and then release when the lights go out.
