Brake Change Question

Im in the process of chasing down a squeeking noise, and I went to take the calipers off and cant get them off, *** am I missing, I took the 2 bolts the hold the caliper on the bracket. Do you have to the bracket that holds the caliper on also, b/c I see its holding some clamps that hold the pads?

Well nevermind, it took a big pry bar, but while reinstalling the caliper the the bolt that holds it on broke in the bracket I was even torquing it down either.

I did a right up with pictures on the 3rd gen dually rears, it's in the WIKI. I've seen one on the 4wd fronts, but I don't think it made it to the WIKI yet.

Did you use a clamp to compress the caliper before removing?

Madhat has one somewhere. I seen it awhile ago on the archives.

No, just a pry bar, once off it was easy to put back on, but like I said Im screwed due to a broke bolt.

If you happen to be working on the rear, I believe it's only 2 bolts to pull the entire bracket so you can get to the broken bolt more easily. Just remember to hang the caliper on some wire or zip tie it up. Don't let it hang on the flexible brake line.
