Found another ABS/Brake light thread

I was looking at thread topics further on in back pages on this board and came across this one. (https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...d.php?t=200655)
It sounded similar to your problem, D45.

Hey Vzdude, one of the posters in this other thread said their ABS module went out. That is something, that I never thought of. This could explain the low speed activation that D45 is having. If you get to look at his truck, do not forget to check D45 ABS module.

Have someone with a scanner look at the ABS sensors while you drive. Duplicate the 5-7 mph ABS activation, and they should be able to see which sensor goes to 0 first. That will be your trouble area.
Thanks for your help and suggestions Andy!

The scan Andy did revealed the driver side front ABS sensor.

I am going to pull it apart this evening and clean the face of the sensor and see what happens.........

When the ABS does kick on (very, very un-predictabe) the truck will pull slightly to the right.

So this would indicate the driver side ABS having a problem/issue.

Andy scanned the truck for me and it showed the front left ABS sensor.

I pulled off the front driver side tire, brake caliper, and the rotor.

I inspeced the ABS sensor line and everything was in great shape.

I then pulled the sensor ontop of the hub area, which intentions that I would fine a rust covered sensor.

It literall looked brand new, no rust or buildup at all. In fact, there was still a film of factory grease all over the sensor.

I removed the sensor and cleaned all the grease. I shined a light down the port hole and everything seemed fine.

I re-applied some grease and bolted the sensor back in, and reinstalled the rotor, caliper, and the tire.

I took it for a 15 minute drive and the BRAKE/ABS light never came back on.

I felt the ABS kick on one time, but there was never a BRAKE or ABS light.

Well.....dang......at least you know which sensor will need replaced if it continues to give you trouble. I was hoping for a rust buildup!

The entire hub area was very tight also.

If and when I need to replace the sensor: Is the entire sensor and wiring harness sold together?

Any ideas on how much this costs?

The light is still off after two short trips, but the ABS has kicked on 3-4 times when braking at 5-7 MPH.

The BRAKE/ABS is still off, but I still ocassionally feel that ABS kicking in, and then the truck pulls to the right (like the left ABS is kicking on).

Any ideas?

Is the ABS sensor a dealer only part?

Any idea on how much is is?

Somewhere around 65-85 $ and as far as I know, only at the dealer. You could try someplace like NAPA and see though. And yeah, it comes with the wiring as well.

Mine have no come back on since this thread was posted.

I pulled the driver side frolnt sensor out of the top of the hub area, cleaned the sensor tip off, put a fresh coat of grease across the tip and reinstalled the sensor into the hub.

Knock on wood, it never came back on!

I hit a bat transition on a bridge while towing my 5ver last week. The Brake and ABS lights came on.
Everything felt fine. I have never felt my ABS activate.
After a couple of fuel stops, the lights went off. I haven't had a chance to check for codes.
